Thanks for sharing the great pictures of the Rainbow Flyback.  I was told by someone who works at Zenith that the red second hand is very limited in supply.  That means if the watch is carelessly handled at service, there could be an issue in getting a replacement of the red second hand.  The advice is forewarn whoever will be carrying out a service.  If you look closely enough to the red second hand, you will see it is quite uniquely shaped.

BTW, when the Rainbow flyback was first launched, some considered the size was too big.  It was not not really a great success at least not that I observed.  Interestingly, people realize this very model is a piece of 100% engineering workmanship, excellent finish and value at the time.  It now contributes to an important chapter in the history of the making of Zenith.  All these words coming from me may seem a bit biased.  Yes, the truth is I am glad that I own one.

Being visited by a Zenith Rainbow ...

Last Friday, a holiday here, we received a visit of a dear friend that was/is struggling with his digital camera. He went with his camera (a Canon S100 that I also have one) and, of course, a watch to be used as photo model (A beautiful an immaculate Omeg...

One of my favorite El Primeros . . .

. . . of all, Nilo. Legibility is first rate, particularly for a black dial, and the design speaks volumes, at least to my eyes. Of course, your photos help make the case for the design of the Rainbow! Your friend is fortunate to have one in such good con...

This is, as of now, my favorite ...

And yes, he is the first owner and, that's the bad news, he also loves this one. I made several attempts, offering pieces that I know he likes but the answer was a bold and solid NO. I'm starting a hunt for an all black one, that is more useable on day to...

I can imagine the nice surprise

Rainbows are beautiful watches and maybe weren't recognized at their real value in the 90's. Unfortunately I must say I'm not a great fan of what Zenith watches are today when talking about style. This model you handled seems marvelous. Thanks for sharing...

I agree with you about the Rainbow but I see with good eyes the Zenith's current line. I dream with a 36,000 Tribute to Charles Vermont as I consider this as a very cool watch. Cheers, Nilo

one day

I hope to own this one too ... one day A modern Zenith ( or more than one) , a De Luca and a rainbow, that's all I'm asking for :-) I know they had some great El Primero's in the 1970's but I'm not a fan of the 1970's design so I won't buy them. Those tha...

Very nice wish list ...

We share the same list except by the 1900s pilot watch. Those pilots, I saw some "in flesh", don't "sing my song". Instead of a pilot, my list could include a late 90's white dialed Chronomaster to make a B&W pair with my black dialed one. Cheers, Nilo
