Is Zenith losing it's soul?
Jun 05, 2014,05:44 AM
A disturbing reminder that Zenith is part of a huge multi-national conglomerate.
The new Limited Edition Chronomaster 1969 Rolling Stones
Zenith partners with the Stones for their latest, and hopefully last tour
Signing on basketball players as brand ambassadors. An uninspiring year in terms of novelties with a lack of technical and design innovation. The decision to outsource movements for the new Pilot watch. And destroying this beautiful El Primero with Mick Jagger's lips. Good business decisions at the expense of alienating the serious collector?
What do you think?
Dean

I'm sure that our biggest Stones fan Art will not approve it one bit and that tells it all...but on other side I think this will sell very well unfortunately Sincerely Damjan

Another casualty of the Biver effect. At least I have some respect for the Rolling Stones. Ugly but better than a Ferrari logo IMO. Cheers Stan

But shouldn't he increase sexiness using musicians young people like, and not musicians he likes?
There is an article on FT.com on this very topic...

Link: The gist if you don't want to register: Zenith is keenly aware of the disappointment amongst Purists, but they are looking to change their core audience in order to ramp up sales considerably. I see Zenith's (LVMH's) point of view, and I'm not too ...
Well....

They may well have just lost one loyal customer, and I may very well sell my five Zenith watches and switch loyalties to JLC. Also, Zenith second hand values never really faired well. These moves will destroy value retention completely. Dean

A change in trajectory?

I thought they were on their way with what Dufour was able to accomplish during his time with Zenith. It's sad to see all that effort at building a serious "manufacture" image go to waste. They should've just picked up from where Nataf left off. I know it...
