Zenith

For the Only Watch 2015 charity, Zenith generously donated a unique El Primero Striking 10th "Lightweight" Tribute to the Rolling Stones. 

 

The watch features the famous and unique El Primero 4052W automatic movement housed in a titanium black DLC case measuring 45 mm in diameter, visible through its skeletonised dial. 

On the caseback, the oscillating weight is adorned with the British band’s famous red tongue logo.

For those of you who are not familiar with this El Primero variant: It is quite different to the normal El Primero in that it allows to measure 1/10th of a second on its central counter. This is possible thanks to the silicon clutch wheel which has 100 teeth, providing ten strikes per second - thus the name of the watch.

This also comes with a different subdial layout: it is from left to right, clockwise (of course)  ;-)  60 (permanent seconds) - 60 (chronograph seconds) - 60 (minutes). Hours are not considered.

 

The dial follows the design of the Lightweight watches, with stenciled date numerals can be found rotating around the circumference of the dial, with the aperture appearing at 6 o’clock, colouring the current date numerals to red. 

The hours and minute hands are shaped to resemble the fretboard of the Fender Telecaster guitar, made famous by the Rolling Stones' Keith Richards. 

The red center sweep-seconds features a tiny star shaped cut out at the end.

It’s fitted with a unique rubber strap featuring a Barenia calfskin insert embossed with the band's logo and Union Jack. 

The watch comes in a presentation box bearing the Rolling Stones logo in conjunction with that of Zenith. 

This watch will be up for sale at the Only Watch charity auction, taking place in Geneva on 7 November 2015, to assist in furthering research for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
