Zenith Pilot Type 20 Lady is Timeless

Aug 05, 2014,02:33 AM

Magnus,

This style of watch is a classic whether it is intended for male or female.

Many Pilots' watches of that flight era have the attractive onion crown and cathedral hands.

Some even have the coin-edge bezel markings that makes up the Desired Trinity.

The current Mrs MTF is an admirer of that design motif trinity so I'm sure she will like this watch. She is not so keen about diamonds on the bezel since her mantra is "If I wear diamonds, they will be as jewellery".  Don't get me wrong; she likes diamonds....too much....but not on her watches.  wink

At 40mm diameter, it may actually be too small for her!

Why are women today obsessed with big watches?

Who do we blame?

Thanks for the coffee shop reviews too.

Regards,

MTF

Zenith Coffee House Tales (vi): Who said all pilots are male?

It is summer, the time of vacations, and thus Miss R and myself decided to make this a very light topic (perhaps in contrast to our previous instalment ) - Miss R brought along her personal summer watch, the Zenith Pilot Type 20 Lady , a 40mm watch delica...

Very nice. I could definitely see getting my wife one of these..

...especially since it passes her first criterion: diamonds (!). Great pics and presentation. Thank you. Cheers, John

I think I have been there before...

.. perhaps long time ago, but looks somewhat familiar.... Well, lady's version of the pilot watch is challenging - size wise. But I am sure there are plenty of adventurous ladies out there who would be attracted by Zenith pilot watch. Nice series, Magnus!...

I am not very keen on the diamonds on such a watch.

Remove them, and yes, I quite well see my wife with it on the wrist... Therefore, without diamonds, it will allow me to save a bit more for my horological purchases! :) Best, Nicolas

See below for similar conclusion as you

I agree with you and thank goodness, so does the current Mrs MTF. She keeps watches and diamonds separate. On the other hand, every now and then, a brand comes up with spectacular watches with diamonds and only a picture can demonstrate: ;) ...

That is a great looking piece! :)

I guess that with a size of 40 mm, it could attract both male (who like stones) and females (I still have to meet one who doesn't like stones ;))! The onion crown looks really good together with the stone settings! Hopefully, my GF will not read this post...

Grafting feminine touches . . .

. . . onto a masculine design must be a challenge, Magnus, especially for such an idiosyncratic model as the Type 20. It's difficult to think of any manufacturer that pulls off the feat neatly with regularity; Panerai is the only one that comes readily to...

I personally do not like the diamonds... but my wife sure does!

And this lovely pilot watch is for ladies and not me so Zenith definitely got it right! I have told Kong and Blomman before for ladies Chopard and GP with diamonds... everytime I show Mrs Wong the pics, I get into serious trouble.... Thanks Magnus for the...

As a woman, I love Zenith watches

They seem to pay a lot of attention to little details that promote female inclusion in serious watchmaking. And this is true for this watch as well. I thought it was interesting that the case is polished but the lugs are not. Perhaps to not contend with t...
