Zenith "Scuderia Ferrari" Chronograph with real Formula One provenance!

May 27, 2014,16:46 PM

I was just browsing tomorrow's Auctionata auction and came across this amazing branded watch.

It's really special to a car nut like me - an original, documented Scuderia Ferrari-branded watch given by the factory to their driver in the Italian Grand Prix at Monza!

I wrote more about it over on my blog, but that's the gist. It's the real deal, and pretty special...

I wonder what you Zenith folks think of it. I'm not up on the watches of that era, but it appears to be an Excelsior Park EP4/Zenith 143-6 chrono in excellent condition.

How much will it go for? I'm betting well above the € 6k estimate...

I'm sure even cooler for Ferrari fans. Do you have more photos of the watch (both sides)? I bet that movement is gorgeous... Best, CaliforniaJed

Sure!

I find that Auctionata does a fairly awful job documenting the pieces up for sale. They tend to under-price special pieces and seem not to understand why a watch collector would want one over another. Such is the case this time. Of all the watches in toda...

Yep...

It sold for € 12,000! What a great piece and a great story!

Oops!

Let me correct that - with a hammer price of € 12,000, it sold at € 15,400 including the buyer's premium. What a wonderful buy!

Good spot

It was indeed the only piece that performed well amongst all the rather uninspiring watches. I stayed up until lot 66 waiting for that Zenith, but finally fell asleep as the auction was going so slow. Glad I did not stay up for the Zenith as it was way hi...
