Zenith Elite - It was to NOT be mine ...

Nov 01, 2013,06:03 AM

Team,

Last Sunday I bumped on a friend watch seller that was wearing a Zenith Elite.

I asked the classic "How much?" and he mentioned that he was selling this watch on a local site by five "songs".
I passed, because it was way too much.

Later we bumped again and he asked for an offer.

I was not truly interested on the watch and I did a very low ball offer and, to my surprise, he accepted and handled the watch to me.

Time passes ...

Lunch time, I arrived at home and my wife asked (as she always do) "what was the catch of the day" and I handled it to her.

She immediately strapped the Elite on her wrist, look at it and said "It's mine!".

As usual I had the final words: "Yes, dear".

She is wearing the watch all week and I need to ask permission to take pics. She comply with "Only pics. Return to me after that".

Here are the pictures:

1) It's a very nice watch. I love the running seconds sub dial at 9, balancing the date at 3.

2) The movement, caliber 680 that I learned that is very reliable and simple. She needs to send the watch to my watchmaker for a full maintenance, as I always do.

3) Love the hands. Very easy to read.

(Yes, the background is a cigar box. I don't smoke anymore but the box is very cool to hold some watch straps)

4) On the wrist of the owner. Cell phone picture that I took on the day of the "kidnap").

A wonderful weekend to all,

Nilo

Very noble of you. I actually like the watch case of this Elite more than the recent ones, and the numerals are very nice. Seems like you caught yourself a bargain. Dean

Thank you...

Dean, You are absolutely right about the Elite case. Zenith has wonderful past designs that they must look. Cheers, Nilo

Damjan, About anything with nicotine, no way. I smoke all that one needs in a lifetime. Alcohol is fine but no nicotine for me. I'm not an EX that pests the ones that do but ... No more. My quitting method involves ambulances. Infallible. About the watch,...

Great looking watch!

I'm lucky for the fact that ...

She is not a fan of divers and chronographs. Now serious. I really love when she likes a watch, and there are not many that passes her strict criteria. If one day I get a 135, I know that I go to have a hard time to keep it out of her hands. Cheers, Nilo

Not only kidnap but bondage in chains as well

I see chains and the captive watch....... It seems a hopeless scenario. ;) MTF ...

Well ...

As a matter of true, I'm always happy when she "kidnaps" one or more watches. She has a very fine taste. After all, I was "kidnaped" by her 39 years back! Cheers, Nilo
