Patek Pickup Trip - 5204 & 5960

 By: nycbrose : June 18th, 2014-05:07
A lot of you guys really encouraged me to pick up my pieces even though they were halfway across the world. So I did, and it was quite worth the long trip. I finally got the time to really take some pictures yesterday so I thought I'd share with you guys ...

FANTASTIC!!

 By: Fricks : June 18th, 2014-05:19
So happy for you, you did well to go pick it up, its a fantastic watch, a real grail, the kind of watch that makes you feel that you don't need anything else. As for the 5960P, its the daily version :P But i would wear the 5204P on a daily basis. It looks...

What a nice pickup trip !!

 By: GLau : June 18th, 2014-05:33
Congrats on these wonderful pieces !! Both looks great on your wrist. The blue dial on your 5960 really pops out !! Cheers, Gordon

Thank you Gordon!

 By: nycbrose : June 18th, 2014-05:37
I've heard that there have been variations on the blue on the 015, perhaps a first and second production run? Has anyone else heard this?

5204: best modern Patek

By: COUNT DE MONET : June 18th, 2014-05:38
Congrats on this splendid watch! It is full with technological titbits and full with modern charm. A great piece. Moritz

Big congratulation on those 2 watches!!!

stunning!!

 By: mjnoumoff : June 18th, 2014-08:48
back of that 5204 is absolutely incredible. how does it wear on your wrist? i tried on a 5004 a few weeks ago and it felt small on my small wrists.

Incredibly comfortable

 By: nycbrose : June 18th, 2014-17:56
Not to romanticize too much, but in my opinion the 5204 really is a watch for the owner's discreet enjoyment. Its workmanship is extremely fine and "crisp", but the watch doesn't have the physical "presence" of a 5960 or 5270, even though the case is the ...

very intersting.

 By: mjnoumoff : June 18th, 2014-18:45
i also tried on a 5961 and found it large on my wrist. very interesting that the 5204 has really grown. its an absolute beauty!! congrats again. real 'chore' deciding what to wear every day!

Deathly afraid of scratches LOL

 By: nycbrose : June 18th, 2014-18:57
While I've unsealed it and want to enjoy every last bit I'm still finding it hard to put it on for a casual day out! For one it's not waterproof, and secondly I heard servicing can take up to 6 months or more...

Nothing beats live pictures and real live experiences ...

 By: small-luxury-world : June 18th, 2014-12:59
even when they are only briefly, yet. I hope you will have lots of pleasure with your two new beauties. Congrats! Oliver ps: Looking forward to further experiences after some time of ownership ... :-)

Thank you Oliver

 By: nycbrose : June 18th, 2014-17:33
I'll definitely contribute some thoughts as I get more wrist time!

before last shot...

 By: Fricks : June 18th, 2014-14:39
... is not showing, the one where the watch sits at "9"... can you repost it pls, looks like the nicest one. And if you can, some shots outdoors, where we can see how that dial plays with natural light.

Just for you Mr. Fricks =)

 By: nycbrose : June 18th, 2014-17:31
...

yes...

 By: nycbrose : June 19th, 2014-19:07
The 001 had black gold hands, the 010 has pristine mirror polished white gold hands. Never seen the 001 in person but I imagine the high contrast makes it look more "sporty"?

yes...

 By: Fricks : June 20th, 2014-02:15
... i wouldn't say sporty, but more bold. Oxydized hands and markers, pops out more on a white dial. Yours is more classy, both are nice, and its a matter of personal taste.

Cloudy day

 By: nycbrose : June 18th, 2014-20:32
...

Now i can guess that in a clear blue sunny sky...

 By: Fricks : June 19th, 2014-12:08
... the White will pop out like a bomb, like snow on a beautiful day :) Don't hold back on throwing at us as many pics as you can ;)

Patek pick up trip

 By: geross : June 18th, 2014-15:00
Nice pair of pateks. Fantastic , the 5960p is a work of art chrono The other patek manual wind is a joy to wind , you are a blessed Man , congrats & wear in good health. Best Geross

Congrats!

 By: Conkers : June 18th, 2014-17:09
Many congrats Ambrose - sorry I wasn't able to join you for the pickup. Interesting that the 5204 is lighter than the 5960 - wouldn't have suspected that. Did you AD tell you when the black face 5204 was coming?

No word yet...

 By: nycbrose : June 18th, 2014-17:30
Roger, once it arrives, I will definitely let you know! There's a chance that another white gets here before that. I would wait for the black one though.

"the black face"

 By: small-luxury-world : June 25th, 2014-06:04
It should be available from July on ... :-)

Black or White Face

 By: el1125 : June 25th, 2014-09:17
Which one do you prefer Oliver?

This one ...

 By: small-luxury-world : June 25th, 2014-10:20
... would be my choice. It looks smaller on the wrist and is more sporty :-) ...

I considered waiting for the black...

 By: nycbrose : June 25th, 2014-21:25
But I think knowing me, I'd go nuts seeing dust particles :-) My next move is to try the white on a brown strap, see how that looks.

I get your point ...

 By: small-luxury-world : June 25th, 2014-23:03
and indeed black dials can be quite challenging/demanding :-) Cheers, Oliver

Congratulations!

 By: tudorctin : June 19th, 2014-01:38
5204 is the WATCH! The movement is marvelous! Regards, Constantin

Very nice!

 By: patrick_y : June 19th, 2014-01:46
Very nice and congrats! Thanks for sharing! Don't see a 5204 often.

Thank you Patrick :-)

Wow

My all time favorite watch. Enjoy it for a long time.

excellent

 By: el1125 : June 19th, 2014-14:10
Love the 5204

Wow. Congratulation!

 By: Vilit : June 19th, 2014-21:51
5204 looks better in real life.

they just don't make them like they used to..

 By: ideas77 : June 20th, 2014-13:44
patek 5004 will always stay true to the game. Thierry's new series of patek's i believe is moving away from what his forefather's has worked so hard to establish.. Timeless looking pieces. Yes he still makes them the old way, movement style hasn't changed...

Huge congrats for the moment...

 By: swjoseph : June 20th, 2014-19:57
Cutting the plastic is like giving birth to your 5204 & 5960! Cheers.

both are absolutely gorgeous. whoever adviced you

5204P Presentation Box Question

 By: patekben : September 22nd, 2014-12:33
Congratulations on this amazing masterpiece. I just received mine and was surprised that the presentation box was the regular size box (EM123) that is supplied with all non-complicated Patek's as opposed to my 5270G-001 that came in a large presentation b...

A killer watch

By: Le Monde Edmond : September 22nd, 2014-13:40
I recently disovered this wonderful reference 6204. For me it is just perfect. A great complication but still a sporty watch. Its elegant but yet masculine and young. It is the perfect Patek in my point of view. Congratulations. You have excellent taste a...

Congratulations

 By: hamish : September 23rd, 2014-03:41
What an epic watch. Congratulations

Wearing it upside down is something I have thought about many times.
